KAMPALA, Uganda — Coca-Cola Beverages Uganda (CCBU) is strategically investing in local talent through its Graduates in Training (GIT) Programme, an 18-month initiative designed to develop high-potential university graduates into future business leaders.
The recent graduation of the 2023/2025 cohort reaffirmed CCBU’s commitment to growing talent from within, operating under the theme: “Unleash Talent, Drive Impact.” CCBU is a subsidiary of Coca-Cola Beverages Africa (CCBA).
“A robust merit-based selection process ensures that trainees bring a unique blend of critical thinking and resilience, key attributes that reflect the future of leadership across CCBU’s business,” said Catherine Gita, People and Culture Director at CCBU.
The GIT Programme is tailored to attract individuals who exhibit academic excellence, alongside the agility, emotional intelligence, and leadership aptitude required for today’s fast-paced business environment.
Trainees are immersed in real business scenarios, rotating through multiple departments to gain hands-on experience. These rotations encourage participants to lead projects, solve problems, and contribute meaningfully to company outcomes.
A key feature of the program is its dual anchoring model. Trainees receive mentorship from line managers for daily guidance and senior leaders for strategic oversight. This two-tiered approach ensures continuous feedback, clear career direction, and direct engagement with CCBU’s senior leadership. Quarterly performance reviews further reinforce accountability and visibility for each participant.
To round out their professional development, trainees engage in innovation projects, cross-functional collaborations, and specialized learning modules—ranging from LinkedIn Learning content to leadership talks.
The success of the GIT Programme aligns with CCBA’s vision of building future leaders from within, which helps accelerate the company’s growth by attracting, developing, and retaining high-performing talent.
“Our valued employees are assured of the opportunity to become the best version of themselves within CCBU as they embark on an adventure of learning, with unmatched opportunities for personal and professional development,” Gita added. “Our growth story, what we do for communities, our brands, our customers and consumers are a compelling combination for professionals with a hunger to learn and grow.”
The company stressed that its people are driven to make an impact, are passionate about learning, and are committed to working together to achieve excellence.
