KAMPALA; Police has deployed 162 vehicles and 1,040 motorcycles to regions and sub-counties across the country in a bid to strengthen security at the local level and enhance policing services.

The handover, carried out on Friday by AIGP James Apora, Director of Logistics and Engineering, is part of the Force’s ongoing efforts to close security gaps, improve service delivery, and enable quicker responses to crime, particularly during the current election period.

Under the new deployment plan, each sub-county will receive two motorcycles to support local policing operations.

Police leadership emphasized the importance of responsible use and full accountability of these assets by local authorities.

The initiative was made possible with support from the Inspector General of Police, the Minister of Internal Affairs, and the President of the Republic of Uganda, who have helped secure the fleet and enhance the mobility of the Police Force.

The deployment is expected to bolster security coverage nationwide and ensure faster response times to criminal activities at the grassroots level.
